The new brisbanecatholic.org.au website (Brisbane Archdiocese)

Brisbane Archdiocese has launched a fresh new look for its website to cater for its booming digital audience and to reflect the changing face of the Church in Brisbane. Source: The Catholic Leader.

An archdiocese spokesperson said the website served more than 350,000 people every year and was a “critical channel” for reaching the community.

They said the re-design reflected “who we are and what we stand for – a community strong in faith and committed to the common good”.

“We are a community where God’s word, God’s work and God’s people are present every day,” the spokesperson said.

The three phrases – God’s word, God’s work and God’s people – form the structure of the website’s new sitemap.

“The Archdiocese of Brisbane is an incredibly diverse organisation,” the spokesperson said.

“And now we have a new archdiocese website which brings together all the good works we do in one place.

“The new website captures the many and changing faces of our archdiocese and its people and shares the many reasons for optimism in our vibrant and diverse community of communities.”

The new website includes:

An easy to use locator for parish and Mass times near you;

Ways to tune in to prayer reflections, homilies, and live streams;

Functionality which allows parish news feeds to appear on parish pages on the website.

The new design came out of extensive consultation, including work with Australian Catholic University through focus groups with students, internal stakeholder engagement sessions and a survey that reached across South East Queensland.

The research showed the Archdiocese of Brisbane website was mostly used by local Catholics aged 60 and over, who were primarily looking for information about events, live-stream Masses, topical issues and Mass times.

The spokesperson said the research also informed them how other audiences were likely to engage with the Church through digital mission.
