“Our vision is for a society that is a microcosm for the world – where all are respected and valued and our diversity is recognised as a strength,” Mr Albanese will tell the National Press Club tomorrow.
The second-term Albanese Government would be “focused on delivery”, a draft of the speech said.
It addressed “significant global uncertainty” that Mr Albanese said reached beyond economic stability, describing a “corrosive proposition that politics and government and democratic institutions, including a free media, are incapable of meeting the demands of this moment”.
It said election commitments to expand access to GP visits, open more Medicare urgent care clinics and “help with the cost of living” would help “every Australian, regardless of who they voted for”.
Mr Albanese’s second term would be focused on proving to voters “that a good, focused, reforming Labor government can make a real difference to people’s lives”.
“It is the mission and the measure of a Labor government to give those enduring ideals of fairness, aspiration and opportunity renewed and deeper meaning [and] deliver reforms that hold no-one back – and drive progress that leaves no-one behind,” the speech said.
Opposition Leader Sussan Ley will address the National Press Club on June 25, as the first Liberal Party leader to do so since former prime minister Scott Morrison did so in February 2022.
