Working with local artist David Adams, Centacare Evolve Housing tenants, school students and the wider community are featured in this large-scale artwork, which can be seen from the Brooker Highway near Abbotsfield Road in Claremont.
The project includes photographic images of community housing tenants, school children, neighbours, community members and pets.
The artwork was blessed last Thursday by Hobart Archdiocese vicar general Fr Shammi Perera to launch the campaign called Homes for All.
“This project shines a light on people in social and affordable housing and challenges existing stereotypes” said Centacare Evolve Housing chief executive Ben Wilson.
“We encourage (people) to visit our website and read the stories of those who have experienced homelessness or housing stress.
“The launch is one of a number of events in Homelessness Week held across the state by Catholic agencies and forms part of the Catholic Church’s commitment to provide all Tasmanians with a place to call home.”
Centacare Evolve Housing owns or manages over 2700 properties around Tasmania. The organisation is engaged in an extensive building program that will add over 800 new properties to the social and affordable housing markets over the next few years.
