With over two million people enduring displacement and hardship, access to clean water is no longer a certainty but an urgent need.
Cardinal Charles Maung Bo, Archbishop of Yangon, is appealing to the global community.
“The people we serve have endured unimaginable loss – homes destroyed, livelihoods taken, and lives uprooted,” Cardinal Bo said.
“Without clean water, their suffering is multiplied. Providing water purification systems is a gift of life itself, one drop at a time.”
In collaboration with Catholic Mission, the Archdiocese of Yangon is working to install water purification tanks in nine locations.
These systems will provide safe drinking water for children and families, reducing the risk of deadly waterborne diseases in communities where access to clean water has been devastated by violence and displacement.
According to UNICEF, the escalating conflict in Myanmar has disproportionately impacted children, leaving them particularly vulnerable to malnutrition and disease. Clean water is essential for safeguarding their health and restoring dignity to their lives.
“Every drop of water sustains life, and every donation – no matter the size – adds up to make a lasting impact,” Cardinal Bo said. “Your gift can bring life-saving clean water to families who desperately need it.”
