Couples attended the Embark Marriage Seminar held at Bowen Hills parish recently to help understand God’s plan and purpose for marriage and sexuality.
Mrs Burger, who spoke at the seminar, is the author of Theology of the Body: Reclaiming the True Meaning of Human Sexuality.
The book explores St John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, reflecting on human origins, concupiscence and redemption.
It calls for rediscovering the body’s dignity, embracing God’s plan and living the vocation to marriage or celibacy with greater awareness.
One of the couples participating in the seminar, Sidd Unni and Sandrine Tobias, said the seminar was an “eye opening and life changing experience”.
“Learning about Theology of the Body is a must for any engaged, newly married or couple married for decades,” Mr Unni said.
“Hailing from a non-Catholic background who recently got engaged to my beautiful Catholic fiancé, naturally comes with its challenges.
“But this seminar helped me deeply reflect on my personal journey as well as together as a couple.
“I found that we discussed topics that we never thought about or just touched on briefly in the past.
“Tatiana and her husband have a true gift in engaging and connecting with couples. Their transparency, genuine commitment and experience is what’s needed in today’s society.”
Miss Tobias said the seminar was “an intentional, insightful and in-depth seminar to God’s plan and purpose of marriage and sexuality”.
“Learning Theology of the Body has helped me reflect on the nature of God and human vocation,” she said.
“I truly enjoyed the seminar and recommend it for engaged and married couples.”
The Embark Marriage Seminar is a program of Family Enrichment Australia.
FEA aims to help individuals and families to discover the beauty and value of family life and to provide opportunities for families to gain knowledge and confidence in their role within a challenging society.
