Catholic Social Services Australia announced yesterday that Monique Earsman will be stepping down from her role as executive director, effective May 31.
Ms Earsman has accepted a new opportunity as the director of operations at the Australian Labor Party national office.
Ms Earsman joined CSSA three and a half years ago during a critical time of restructuring following significant funding cuts.
In a statement, CSSA said under Ms Earsman’s leadership, the organisation “not only stabilised but also thrived”.
“She was pivotal in rebuilding the office’s capacity, initially operating as the sole staff member and gradually forming a robust team committed to our mission,” the statement read.
“Monique led the development of a strategic direction that realigned CSSA’s focus towards the needs of its members. This new trajectory has enhanced our advocacy and service delivery, ensuring that CSSA continues to be a pivotal voice for our network and social justice in Australia.”
Peter Monaghan, CSSA board chair, said Ms Earsman’s leadership had left a lasting impact on the organisation.
“We thank her for her profound dedication and wish her success in her new role,” Mr Monaghan said.
Ron Johnson, who is currently CSSA’s government relations and policy officer, will serve as acting executive director.
The CSSA Board will shortly commence a comprehensive recruitment process to select a new executive director.
