Other films, such as Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla (2023), have dissected the people around Elvis, who significantly influenced his life by offering him other kinds of meaning; this film focuses specifically on Elvis as a unique singer and performer.
EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert employs Luhrmann’s cinematic expertise in an accomplished way and is a follow up to his 2022 biographical film, Elvis.
Much of the footage, shot while he was resident in Las Vegas in the 1970s, has not been seen before. Luhrmann has blended state-of-the-art technology with the concert footage, including restoring sound to the lost footage,
The film captures Elvis at the height of his powers and Luhrmann, with his own unmistakable flair, has set a new standard for concert movies.
