
The National Council of Catholic Religious Australia yesterday elected a new vice president and executive member to join president Sr Kari Hatherell OSU on the executive of the council.
Fr Alan Gibson CM was elected vice president. Fr Gibson has been the provincial of the Vincentians for more than four years and a member of the CRA council since 2022.
He has also served as CRA member representative on Australian Catholic Safeguarding Limited.
He replaces outgoing acting president (and formerly vice president) Sr Philippa Murphy FDNSC, who continues to serve as a member of council.
Sr Karon Donnellon RSM has been re-elected as the executive member, a role she has held since 2024.
Sr Donnellon has been institute leader of the Institute of Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea since 2023.
Sr Hatherell said: “I am very grateful to Alan and Karon for accepting the responsibility as members of the CRA executive.
“They are committed and generous, bringing a wisdom and love for the Catholic Religious of Australia. I look forward to working with them.”
